The legal basis for the funding period 2021-2027 consists of European (Common Provisions Regulation [CPR], AMIF Regulation) and national legislation (German AMIF Programme 2021-2027, Funding Directive). Coordination of the European legal basis took place during the German EU Council Presidency.

The (National) German AMIF Programme 2021-2027 was prepared by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in close coordination with the Federal Ministry of the Interior. In accordance with the partnership principle, it was coordinated with NGOs, associations and municipal umbrella organizations, the Länder and the federal ministries.

  • Common Provision Regulation (CPR):
    The Common Provision Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2021/1060) contains common provisions and budgetary rules for different European funds aimed at strengthening the economic, social and territorial cohesion of the European Union. This includes the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
  • AMIF Regulation:
    The AMIF Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2021/1147) establishes the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for the period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2027. The Regulation also sets out the objectives, budget, forms of Union funding and financial provisions of the AMIF 2021-2027.
  • (National) German AMIF Programme 2021-2027:
    The (National) German AMIF Programme 2021-2027 sets out Germany's objectives that contribute to the efficient management of migratory movements. It also defines the eligible measures within the Specific Objectives of the AMIF 2021-2027 and sets out the financial framework for the funding period 2021-2027.
  • Funding Directive:
    The Directive on the Granting of Funding under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027 (Funding Directive, German: Förderrichtlinie, FöRL) is the national legal basis for project funding. The rules and regulations contained herein are legally binding and compliance with them is the basis for the approval of an application for funding.
