With the United Nation's Agenda 2030 (in German), the global community has set itself 17 goals for socially, economically and ecologically sustainable development. These are referred to as ‘Sustainable Development Goals’. The Agenda 2030 is underpinned by five core messages as guiding principles.

  • Focus on human dignity (People)
  • Promoting prosperity for all (Prosperity)
  • Protecting the planet (Planet)
  • Promoting peace (Peace)
  • Building global partnerships (Partnership)

This objective has now found its way into the AMIF project evaluation. The evaluation criterion of sustainability has been upgraded in the new AMIF funding period. The proposed project's compatibility with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nation's Agenda 2030 will be explicitly assessed. Projects in the AMIF must not contradict the Agenda 2030's SDGs but rather must promote the objectives of one or more of the SDGs.
