In Germany, the AMIF Managing Authority is part of the remit of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. The AMIF Managing Authority consists of three central units (Policy Matters, Finance and Operational Management) at the Nuremberg site and the five approval centres (Bewilligungszentren, BZ) in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Gießen and Munich. The decentralized structure of the AMIF Managing Authority facilitates good local accessibility, especially for advising interested executing agencies and supporting funding beneficiaries.

In addition to providing comprehensive advice, the approval centres are also responsible for reviewing and approving project applications. The regionally responsible approval centre is also responsible for monitoring the approved project measures. To support the executing agencies, the approval centres also offer training on relevant topics for interested parties. As part of the public relations work of the AMIF 2021-2027, the approval centres are also responsible for planning and implementing regional information and networking events.
